Charlton 1 Shrewsbury 1 – Conor Washington’s hot streak continues as Addicks take a point
Conor Washington’s scoring run continued as the Charlton striker’s neat finish saw them draw 1-1 at home against Shrewsbury.
Sean Goss headed the away side ahead on 56 minutes. He produced a diving header from Matthew Pennington’s cross from the right.
Substitute Chuks Aneke struck the bar from a Washington cross in the 69th minute.
Washington did make it 1-1 with 12 minutes remaining of normal time. The Northern Ireland international, who bagged a brace in the midweek win over Northampton, cut inside on his right foot and threaded his shot through a packed penalty area.

Two defensive lapses could have cost the Addicks in the closing stages. David Edwards had a huge chance when Chris Gunter lost possession on the edge of his own area but he drove well over.
And Shaun Whalley’s chip after Akin Famewo’s header inside dropped sweetly for a first-time effort went past the upright with Ben Amos stranded.
The result leaves Charlton eighth in the table. They are two points behind sixth-placed Ipswich Town, who have two matches in hand.
The Addicks badly need to win Tuesday’s visit of Bristol Rovers – a third consecutive fixture at The Valley – to boost their play-off hopes.
