Millwall boss aware of Charlie Austin’s threat as he discusses change of style from QPR

Gary Rowett is fully aware of the threat that Charlie Austin poses as Millwall look to bank yet more Championship away points at QPR tomorrow night.

The Lions made it 27 points collected on the road this season with a 1-0 victory over Derby County at Pride Park on Saturday.

Millwall are sixth in a table for away form in the Championship in the 2020-21 season.

Austin rejoined QPR on loan from West Bromwich Albion in early January and has bagged five goals for the west London club.

“He has scored goals wherever he’s been, when you put him in the right sort of the team,” said Millwall manager Rowett. “He can do the damage in the final third. He is going to be a handful for anyone in the Championship. It was a good signing.

“They have made some good signings this year but they got plenty of money for some of the players who went out – some big, influential technical players. They have gone a slightly different route which has been just as effective.

“Mark [Warburton] is an experienced manager. They have got good physicality but are slightly different without [Bright] Osayi-Samuel and [Eberechi] Eze. They still move the ball well. If you go on form for the last 15 games I would imagine they are pretty high up in the league.

“It’s never an easy place to go. We know we have to improve in a lot of aspects from Saturday. It will be a different type of game.

“We’ve had some fabulous wins away and it’s just a shame that our fans haven’t been there to share it. We have gone to some tough places and won.”
