Crystal Palace boss Hodgson: One more win could clinch Premier League safety – but we want more
By Richard Cawley
Roy Hodgson has conceded that one more win could be enough to secure Crystal Palace’s Premier League status – but that there is no intention for his side to take their foot off the gas.
The Eagles are at home to Leicester on Saturday and are six points clear of the dropzone.
A ninth victory of the league campaign would seem almost certain to dispel any lingering fears of the drop.
Palace boss Hodgson said: “It may well be [that one win is enough]. Thirty-eight points would seem to be quite a good total this year, with quite a lot of teams not that close to it.
“It is a question of just trying to make certain by winning each of the three matches available and not take any chances.”
Palace are set to have Jeffrey Schlupp back available from injury.
“Connor Wickham trained again today and that is really good news,” said Hodgson. “Especially for Connor, because he has been out such a long time. Jeffrey Schlupp is back. We had a big squad out there [training.”
