Neal Ardley: We’re hopeful that Dons striker’s injury is not a serious one

The injury AFC Wimbledon striker Lyle Taylor suffered in the 2-2 final-day draw against Bury is not as serious as it first appeared, according to Dons manager Neal Ardley.
The Montserrat international cut a distressed figure as he went down clutching his Achilles in the 27th minute and had his face buried in his hands as he was stretchered off. But the 28-year-old forward joined his team-mates on the pitch – albeit on crutches – for their end-of-season lap of honour.
“He’s obviously not great,” said Ardley after the match. “Tthe main thing is we think it’s more of a ligament, few weeks injury, rather than a serious one like a break or an Achilles, or something like that.
“With a bit of luck he’ll rest it at a swimming pool or on a beach and he’ll recover.”
Taylor is out of contract this summer and has been widely tipped to move on to bigger things, but Ardley was playing a straight bat to enquiries about his star man.
“I think it would be wrong for me to be announcing it in the press,” added the Dons boss. “With Lyle we’ll have to sit down on Tuesday and everything will happen then. The players need to be the first to know what’s going on.”
