Crystal Palace ‘monitoring’ out-of-favour Premier League midfielder

Crystal Palace are reportedly keeping an eye on Everton midfielder Tom Davies.

The 23-year-old Scouser is out of contract next summer and has played just 17 minutes of Premier League football since Rafa Benitez was appointed Toffees boss in the summer.

Football Insider claim that Davies is on Palace’s watchlist heading towards the next transfer window. They add that there has been “no progress” in talks over an extension to his deal.

The former England U21 international had made 155 senior appearances for Everton after coming through their youth ranks.

Davies became the youngest player to captain them when Marco Silva handed him the armband for an EFL Cup tie against Rotherham in August 2018, when he was only aged 20 years and 60 days. He made his Premier League debut in April 2016.

The midfielder made 17 league starts last season but has struggled for involvement since Benitez succeeded Carlo Ancelotti.

Palace signed Will Hughes from Watford at the end of August but the 26-year-old has yet to make his debut. He has been an unused substitute for the last three fixtures.
