Jed Wallace on whether he intended wonder strike at Sheffield United

Jed Wallace has opted to keep his counsel on whether he meant his spectacular strike in Millwall’s 2-1 win at Sheffield United in midweek.

Wallace beat Blades keeper Robin Olsen with a long-range effort from the right touchline.

It was his fifth goal of the season and moves him on to 41 in the EFL for the club with Jim Dillimore, Dean Neal and Tony Cascarino (all 42) next in his sights.

“I’m going to leave it for people to decide for themselves,” Wallace told the South London Press after being asked if he intended his effort. “Some might say a cross, some might say a shot – but I remember Thommo [Ben Thompson] doing something similar last season, so we’re good for one a year.

“Forest did something similar to us. It was great to see mine fly in.

“The [Luton] keeper made a couple of great saves from me on Saturday, from a free-kick and a penalty. So to get that little bit of luck was nice.

“It was a big result. Coops [Jake Cooper] doing what he has already done this season – popping up with a massive moment for us.

“That’s the Championship for you – you lose to Luton and then go to a team who have been in the Premier League for two years and thoroughly deserve the win.”
