Rising star at Chelsea shows support for local club by handing out end-of-season awards

Top Chelsea prospect Reece James showed his continued support to Bromley-based club Coney Hall FC by spending a whole day attending their end-of-season ceremony.

James is the Blues’ under-23 captain and also won the club’s Young Player of the Year award.

But this time it was James handing out the honours to all the age groups and also giving a speech.

The defender, 18, said: “I started just like you, playing grass roots football from a young age, I turned up to practice every week and gave my all every single session.

“I still have a long way to go in my career but my great advice to you is to always work hard to achieve your dreams, and always keep your feet on the ground.”

James has been a long-standing supporter of Coney Hall FC but has taken up an active involvement with the club since November 2018 due to his close relationship with the under-11 team’s head coach Vernon Francis.

James regularly gives up his time to help out that age group by coaching, mentoring, and encouraging the boys.

Francis said: “We are truly grateful to Reece for giving up his time in supporting the kids in the way he has, it means a great deal to all the kids and the club for all his help on and off the pitch, he really is a true role model.”
