Millwall defender on being in final six months of his Den deal
Millwall captain Alex Pearce is not giving any thought to his future despite his contract being up in the summer.
The centre-back, 33, has clocked up three years with the Lions.
Asked how much he is pondering his playing career beyond May, Pearce replied: “Not at all. The older you get in this game the more you take it day by day. You take it as it comes.
“I signed a year’s extension in the summer and as far as I’m concerned that is what I’ve got. We’ll assess it when the time comes.
“I’m nowhere near through that extension, I’m six months into it. I’ve still got time on my contract. It’s just a matter of playing well when selected and training well.
“I’ve learned not to look too far ahead and stay in the present, the rest takes care of itself.”
Pearce only made his first Championship start of the season in late December against Coventry.
“I want to play as many minutes as I can so it had been frustrating,” he said. “I was pleased to get in and put in a good performance. The most important was to get a clean sheet and a win, it’s always the ideal thing.”
