Women’s football: Wales call-ups for Charlton Athletic trio

Charlton Athletic trio Megan Wynne, Elise Hughes and Anna Filbey have been called up by Gemma Grainger for the Wales squad to take part in the Pinatar Cup in Spain next week.

Midfielders Filbey (pictued) and Wynne and forward Hughes will join Chelsea’s 112-cap Wales captain Sophie Ingle for the three-match tournament, along with 19-year-old goalkeeper Poppy Soper, who joined Chelsea on dual-registration forms this week while continuing to play for Women’s National League Southern Premier side Plymouth Argyle.

Wales will face Scotland in Pinatar, southeastern Spain on Wednesday, February 16, with Charlton keeper Eartha Cumings in Pedro Martinez Losa’s Scotland squad along with Chelsea forward Erin Cuthbert.

Wales will then face either Belgium or Slovakia on Saturday 19 and will have a final fixture on Tuesday 22.
