Whyte-Fury will be on April 23…provided Brixton heavyweight signs contract

Dillian Whyte’s shot at WBC world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury is set to go ahead on April 23.

Brixton’s Whyte has yet to put pen to paper on the fight contract, with Queensberry Promotions winning the purse bid.

The South Londoner is understood to be unhappy at the 80-20 split in Fury’s favour. That would net Whyte a career-high payday of at least £6million.

“It was very fair [the 80-20 split] considering Dillian Whyte made £250,000 in his last fight and I made £30million,” Fury told iFL TV.

“I originally wanted to fight March 26. I’m the top of the tree – I don’t wait for other people to decide what they are going to do with my career. I fight on my dates. When they become world heavyweight champions, then they can determine when they want to fight.

“Dillian Whyte is guaranteed $8m and if he wins he is guaranteed $12m – it’s a lot of money.

“I see him as a good challenge but he’s still a bum. They are all bums – compared to me. Compared to that man on the street, who can’t fight, he’s a killer.

“If they [Whyte] sign it [the fight contract], they sign it – if they don’t then the show rolls on and we find someone else to give that money to and change their lives.

“I knock him out – right hand. He’ll crash, like a big oak tree – chopped down by the big mighty axe.”
