Charlton Athletic boss Bowyer on whether he will add another coach to mix

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Charlton caretaker manager Lee Bowyer has no intention of adding to his coaching team.

The former Addicks, Leeds, Newcastle and West Ham midfielder took charge of the side when Karl Robinson left in March.

Bowyer was assisted by Johnnie Jackson, who had been player-coach.

Jackson retired from playing at the end of last season.

Bowyer has already indicated he expects to be made permanent boss by the start of August if prolonged takeover talks do not reach completion.

Asked about the possibility of adding another coach, he told the South London Press: “Me and Jacko worked well together at the end of last season.

“I’ve had a couple of coaches ring up and ask but I’ve just said: ‘Thanks, but no thanks’. We’re good the way we’re doing it.

“I love coaching and Jacko loves coaching. If we bring someone else in that can disrupt that.

“The lads know what to expect from us and we know what to expect from them. If it not broken then don’t fix it.”
