Charlton Athletic Women to face Durham at The Valley in landmark fixture
Charlton Athletic will play Durham at The Valley on May 1 – the first time they have played at the stadium since they went professional at the start of the season.
The Addicks are seventh in the FA Women’s Championship and lost 2-0 at London City last weekend with Karin Muya scoring at the end of each half.
Charlton are winless in seven matches and have failed to score in their six defeats over that period, writes Richard Cawley.
The South London club only have two fixtures left in the campaign and head to Blackburn on April 24.
Charlton manager Karen Hills said: “It is exciting that the team will be playing at The Valley. These players deserve the opportunity to play in big stadiums.
“Hopefully going forward there will be many more games played at The Valley which is really important to keep the growth going and encourage people to come down.”
Owner Thomas Sandgaard said: “The group have come a long way in their first year of professional football and will be wanting to end the season on a high.”
