Millwall set to sign Fortuna Sittard attacker Zian Flemming in club record transfer
Millwall have made Fortuna Sittard’s Zian Flemming their first signing of the summer transfer window for a club record fee – pending a successful medical and paperwork.
The 23-year-old, who plays in the number 10 role but can also operate up front, flew into the UK today to finalise the move for an undisclosed seven-figure fee.
Dutch media have claimed that Flemming has signed a deal until the summer of 2025 but Millwall have a policy of not announcing the length of contract.
The Lions had agreed terms last week but there was a delay in wrapping up the switch due to Flemming being away on holiday. They have been extensively scouting the player for the last 18 months.
The former Ajax academy product had interest from UK clubs and also one that will be competing in the Champions League last season but the South Londoners have won the race for his signature.
Forest had previously looked at signing Flemming after an excellent 2020-21 campaign saw him score 15 goals and seven assists. He was also linked with Huddersfield in January.
Last season he again got double figures for goals (10) and four assists despite Fortuna enduring a struggle which saw them finish 15th out of 18 teams in the Eredivisie.
Flemming had publicly expressed his interest in signing for Millwall in January.
The Lions are in need of attacking reinforcements after seeing Jed Wallace sign for West Bromwich Albion while Oliver Burke and Benik Afobe have both returned to their parent clubs following loan spells.
