Millwall manager Neil Harris was pleased to see Lee Gregory “nick a poacher’s goal” in tonight’s 3-2 EFL Cup win over Plymouth Argyle.
The Lions trailed 2-1 going into the final seven minutes but the substitute headed in Jiri Skalak’s cross before Aiden O’Brien, another second-half change, got on the end of Shane Ferguson’s cross for the winner.
“They are goalscorers,” said Harris. “Greggers certainly doesn’t score enough goals in the 12 yard box, as I call it.
“I’m really, really pleased for him. He nicked a poacher’s goal.
“Aiden has got that ability to pop up in places that defenders don’t want to mark you in. Those two coming on – and Jed Wallace – really impacted on the game. They gave us a freshness and energy that’s important.”
