Bristol City victory can be the spark for Millwall winning more Championship away matches
Gary Rowett believes that Millwall’s mental block away from home has been lifted after the Lions secured all three points at Bristol City’s Ashton Gate on Saturday.
It was the first time Rowett’s men have managed to win a game away from SE16 since March 5.
It’s been a wretched run since then, but the Lions boss hopes his side can now build on the victory with further success on the road.
“It will spark the end of it [mental block],” said Rowett. “But if we can go on and win more away games is a different matter, but I don’t think there is anything there to stop us.
“That’s the key. You’ve had a good performance against Rotherham, where we really should have won the game. You’ve had a good performance today, and we’ve won the game.
“There isn’t anything mentality-wise to stop us from doing it. It was massively important today. Tough place to come. We’ve got two tough home games coming up against good teams, but it’s a good end to the week going into the next one with confidence.”
