Jake Forster-Caskey thanks Charlton Athletic fans after completing Stevenage switch

Charlton Athletic midfielder Jake Forster-Caskey has signed for Stevenage.

We reported yesterday that the 28-year-old, due to be out of contract in the summer, had agreed terms with the League Two club.

AFC Wimbledon had pushed for Forster-Caskey at the end of the summer transfer window but a deadline day move failed to be completed in time.

Charlton manager Dean Holden told the club’s official website: “Jake has been here for six years now and has been a valuable player on and off the pitch for the club.

“I’ve had some good, honest conversations with him since I’ve come in to the club – his professionalism has been exemplary in that period. He wants to go and play games.

“He’s missed time through serious injuries and he’s at a period in his career where he needs to be playing regularly. Me and him had a good conversation and found a solution which suits Jake and suits the club as well. We wish him well.”

Forster-Caskey made 128 senior appearances for Charlton and twice fought his way back from ACL knee injuries, one of them occuring at the end of the 2020-21 campaign in which he was voted their Player of the Season.

“I just want to say a massive thank you to every Charlton fan,” Forster-Caskey told the club’s website. “You made Charlton my home from the day I came to the club and you supported me through a couple of tough injuries and I will forever remember that.

“You, the supporters, are the ones who make Charlton such a special club and I loved every minute of playing in front of you guys in red and white. Good luck, JFC.”
