‘Amazing intensity’ – Fulham boss Silva full of pride after clean sheet recorded at Chelsea

Fulham manager Marco Silva praised the “amazing intensity” of his players as they battled their way to a 0-0 draw at Chelsea last night.

The clash of the two west London clubs was a mismatch on paper, with the hosts splashed huge sums in the January transfer window alone in their pursuit of a Champions League spot.

But it was the Whites’ travelling support celebrating at the final whistle as a superb defensive shift shutout their local rivals.

Fulham are sixth in the Premier League.

“Proper derby,” Silva told BBC Sport. “We knew before the match it would be difficult to come here.

“We understood perfectly the strategy to the match. That ambition, that desire, that togetherness, that quality in some moments.

“We went eye to eye with Chelsea in a derby that’s really special for our fans. They did it. I’m so proud of them.

“Amazing intensity. I said at half-time we need to keep that intensity. Our start of the game was so good, so intense. A team who are clear what they’re doing. We have real belief in ourselves.”

Silva added on Sky Sports: “To take four points out of six from Chelsea is a fantastic achievement. Our organisation and shape is what we showed against Tottenham. It has been our behaviour this season.”
