Crystal Palace to get Wilfried Zaha ban verdict today
BY RICHARD CAWLEY
Crystal Palace will hear today if Wilfried Zaha’s appeal had been successful.
The Ivory Coast international is waiting to find out if he will sit out Sunday’s match at Doncaster Rovers.
Zaha was sent off at Southampton and then hit with a further one-match ban after sarcastically clapping referee Andre Marriner.
The Palace star was hit with a £10,000 fine and would have sat out last weekend’s match against West Ham United – but his club lodged an appeal.
Zaha scored last time out against the east Londoners but would be unavailable for the trip to the Keepmoat Stadium if the FA uphold their original verdict.
Palace will come up against an in-form South Londoner in the opposition ranks with Lewisham-born John Marquis scoring his 22nd goal of the campaign in their 3-0 win over Southend in midweek.
The League One outfit rejected bids thought to be in excess of £1million from Sunderland for the former Millwall man in January.
Rovers boss Grant McCann said: “He’s so dangerous. He gets into some unbelievable positions and we’re getting the players to find him now.”
James Tomkins (calf) is set to miss out with no return dates given for Connor Wickham and Cheikhou Kouyate.

The FA has shown itself to be a joke. The incidents leading up to the incident that Zaha got booked for has been completely ignored.
It was a clear foul from Ward-Prowse which referee André Mariner completely missed. It’s not clear what happened next – whether Ward-Prowse said something but the two players clashed.
Zaha’s reaction to Ward-Prowse was unnecessary but not really worth a booking. His next reaction to the booking was completely daft and warranted a booking.
However, Zaha’s reaction was borne out of frustration from a very poor decision by the referee. What is Mariners punishment for a poor decision?
