Dulwich Runners athletics round-up: Ed Chuck impresses in latest parkrun action
On Saturday morning 73 members of all age groups from 20 somethings to 75+ ran, jogged or walked around the three laps of Dulwich Park as part of the club’s 5km parkrun championships. This was the first of nine club championship events ranging from 1 Mile to a marathon. The competitive spirit and the largely flat circuit enabled a number of runners to record personal bests or battle back from injury to take part.
Ed Chuck was again under 16 minutes (15:38) as first senior finisher. Andy Bond recorded a course PB in 16:20. Daniel Mann and Steve Davies both ran well to duck under 17 minutes as next V40 finishers. Tony Tuohy was first V50 finisher in 17:16 and left enough in reserve to win Southern England Masters V55 indoor track gold medals in 1500m and 3000m later that weekend.
Marta Miaskiewicz was first female finisher in 19:17 followed by Kim Hainsworth in 19:58. There were also a number of sub 21 personal bests including Belinda Cottrill, Becca Schulleri, Lucy Pickering, Yvette Dore and Anna Thomas.
Also on Saturday Clare Elms was in action at Lee Valley Indoor Arena. Clare recorded her third W55 age graded world record of 2019 with an excellent 2:25.89 in the 800m.
