Brixton puncher Dillian Whyte targets May ring return

Brixton heavyweight Dillian Whyte is planning to box in May.

Whyte stopped Christian Hammer in the third round in Ireland in the middle of last month, his first action since November 2022.

Whyte – asked by IFL TV how much longer he wanted to box on – said: “I don’t know. One fight at a time, one step at a time – I feel good and my body feels good.

“Physically it was fine coming back for my last fight but mentally it was difficult – keeping that anger and frustration under wraps.”

Whyte has indicated he would be open to taking on Francis Ngannou.

The former MMA star was knocked out by Anthony Joshua, who holds a win over Whyte, in two rounds in Saudia Arabia last month.

“It is a good fight (to talk about),” said Whyte. “Every big heavyweight fight interests me. I want to be active and busy – see what happens.

“Activity is key. I want to be involved in the biggest fights I can be. I’ve fought in Saudi Arabia before and would love to do that again. They treated us very well and the events are getting bigger and bigger.”
