Millwall boss Harris gives verdict on return to Den of Paul Robinson

Neil Harris has spoken about the importance of having coaches with Millwall connections on his coaching team after the return of Paul Robinson.

The former Lions centre-back, who came through the club’s academy to captain them at first-team level, will be assistant to Kevin Nugent in the U23 set-up.

“He is a Millwall character,” said Harris. “He was captain of the club for a long period. He is a good solid guy who wants to have a coaching pathway.

“He started off doing some coaching with Kenny [Jackett] at Portsmouth and a bit of non-league [at Havant & Waterlooville].

“An opportunity arose at our place to come and work with the U23s and alongside a real top experienced coach in Kevin Nugent.

“I felt it was a good role to start his full-time pathway. He has experience and knowledge of the club that he can pass on.

“The chairman is fantastic in terms of players who have had good careers at the club. Paul ticks all the boxes. He has always been held in high esteem – not just by the board but the players who played alongside him and also the fanbase.

“I can’t stress enough to everybody how important it is to have Millwall characters at our football club. We are a unique club. So to know the mindset needed to be successful at Millwall is very important. Robbo has that knowledge.”
