Neil Harris: “Fred has made it very clear that he won’t play for the club, so I am not going to include him in front of our fan base at games.”

Neil Harris has reiterated that Fred Onyedinma doesn’t want to play Millwall – and until that changes, he won’t be selected for the first-team.
Onyedinma played the second-half and scored Millwall’s fourth in their opening pre-season game at Concord Rangers earlier this month and then featured in both of their games in Portugal, but was left out of the squads for the victory at Gillingham on Sunday and then the Southend United defeat on Wednesday night.
The 22-year-old winger enjoyed a successful loan spell at League One side Wycombe during the first half of last season, but made just one eight minute substitute appearance against Sheffield Wednesday after he was recalled by Millwall in January.
“You always ask me about Fred and I took him pre-season because I needed numbers,” Harris said. “Fred has made it very clear that he won’t play for the club, so I am not going to include him in front of our fan base at games. And unless he tells me otherwise that he wants to play for our fans, then he won’t be included in any football match.”
Harris was asked what has changed since the Concord game, he said: “We needed him to play, we needed 22 players. You always hope that people change their mind. I think highly of the boy and are we have got a very good relationship, but we used him because we needed to and he has to get minutes.
“Now we are preparing for Saturday and we will work with players that want to be here.”
