Tooting & Mitcham hopes high for new campaign – as talented trio all landed EFL moves
Tooting & Mitcham United start their Isthmian League South Central Division campaign tomorrow with a trip to Hertford Town.
The Terrors missed out on a play-off spot last season but will once again by expecting to challenge for the top five.
Tooting saw three of their young talents move on this summer – Isaiah Jones and Sam Folarin both joining Middlesbrough while Lexus Beedon penned terms with Reading.
It follows winger Samson Odoh, 19, impressing on trial and landing a loan move to Charlton Athletic in February. Odoh, pictured above, is signed up with Jasom Euell’s U23s and scored for the senior Addicks side in their opening pre-season friendly against Welling United in July and featured at Ebbsfleet United.
Fellow winger Jones, 19, agreed terms with Middlesbrough in the summer after a successful four-week trial. He scored nine goals in 30 appearances for the Terrors last season.
Sam Folarin also joined Boro – trialling with the Teessiders and Charlton.
Defender Beedon, 19, will be part of Scott Marshall’s U23 squad at Reading.
The Terrors have won seven of their nine friendlies – only losing 2-0 to a Charlton XI last week.
They signed wing-back George Ademiluyi from Cheshunt and midfielder Kyrique Garvey-Williams from Cray Wanderers at the weekend.
Tooting drew 1-1 with Ramsgate on Saturday, Shamal Edwards heading in Alex Filipe’s cross to level matters for the South London outfit.
