Millwall boss expecting to be in Lions technical area for fixtures this week as he talks about red card at Middlesbrough

Neil Harris is not expecting any further action to be taken after his dismissal in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Middlesbrough.

The Millwall boss was shown a red card by referee John Brooks and sent from the technical area after a touchline skirmish with Boro first-team coach Leo Percovich.

Asked if that was likely to be the end of the matter, Harris told the South London Press: “No-one seems to know. It is a bit of a grey area. What I’ve been told is that there is no precedent.

“I’m hopeful that once the fourth official puts his report in then the outcome will be that I was trying to get the ball back. I shouldn’t have gone into their [Middlesbrough’s] technical area.

“But that was the end of it. We had a beer afterwards and there didn’t seem to be too much of a problem.

“I’m certainly expecting to be on the touchline on Tuesday and Saturday.

“I was trying to whack the ball out of his grasp and he has just turned himself around.

“There was no kerfuffle afterwards. It probably looked worse than what it was.”

Millwall will be without winger Jed Wallace for tonight’s League Cup tie at Oxford as he serves the final game of a three-match suspension. Jiri Skalak (ankle) will also miss out but the injury he suffered at Fulham is not as bad as first feared.

“He has almost got severe bruising to the heel – there is no lasting damage to that area or his ankle,” said Harris.

“It’s a question of when that has settled down and he can get back out on the grass.

“There is an outside chance of him being back on Saturday. He’ll certainly be fine to go after the international break.

“Mahlon Romeo certainly won’t be. He has been playing with some issues and we’ll have to assess him before Saturday.”
