Scott Parker proud of his Fulham players for coping with absences of Mitrovic and Cairney
Scott Parker was full of praise for his Fulham side as they kept their automatic promotion hopes alive with a midweek 1-0 victory at Forest.
The Whites are at home to Cardiff City tonight and follow up with a trip to second-placed West Brom on Tuesday.
Fulham had suffered back-to-back losses coming out of lockdown but Harry Arter’s thumping finish at the City Ground made it three wins on the spin.
Top-scorer Aleksandar Mitrovic has served his three-match suspension.
Captain Tom Cairney also sat out Tuesday’s match after suffering a knock late in Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Birmingham at Craven Cottage.
“The players have been spot on,” said Parker. “It is full credit to my team that we lost Mitro, Tom Cairney and Aboubakar Kamara – we have had to change things around tactically over the last couple of weeks – and we said people needed to stand up now and chip in to get results and keep moving forward.
“Harry has done that with two goals. Cyrus Christie has got one, so that has been very positive.
“At this stage of the season you need to keep ticking along and win football matches. When you are playing against your closest rivals it’s pleasing to pick up the win.
“It was not vintage us [against Forest] by any means. We didn’t show our dominance with the ball. But saying that there have been many times this season where we have played some fantastic stuff and still lost the match.”
