Lewisham’s mayor set to approve funding for new housing for people suffering homelessness

Lewisham’s mayor and cabinet are set to approve £1.7 million in Section 106 money to fund 33 new specialist homes in Deptford for people suffering homelessness. The housing, to be built on the former Shaftesbury Christian Centre and let at London Affordable Rent (LAR), is set to provide short term tenancies between one and three years for 18 to 35 years olds.

Crystal Palace Low Traffic Neighbourhood’s return in the form of cameras

After six months of back and forth, Croydon Council has decided it will go ahead with an ‘experimental order’ that will restrict traffic through a number of roads in Crystal Palace and South Norwood. Last year a Low Traffic Neighbourhood (LTN) was introduced in the area, with planters stopping through-traffic on Fox Hill, Stambourne Way and Sylvan Way as well as a bus gate in Auckland Road.

Commission proposes to scrap Lewisham West and Penge constituency and create Dulwich and Sydenham

Residents in the west of Lewisham could be voting for an MP shared with Southwark rather than Bromley in the next general election, according to proposals from the Boundary Commission for England. The Commission published its initial proposals for new Parliamentary constituencies on Tuesday (June 8) – the changes involve redrawing and renaming some seats.
