The FA have confirmed that Charlton Athletic manager Ben Garner has been charged with two offences for his red card in Saturday’s 4-4 draw against Ipswich Town at The Valley.

The 20-year-old signed a month-long deal with the National League side on October 29. His debut came at the weekend, a 4-0 reverse at Notts County.

The Ravens play in the Southern Central Premier League – step three – and are fifth in the table.

O’Connell was stretchered off in the first half on Saturday’s 4-4 draw against Ipswich with a knee injury while a groin problem saw Egbo replaced even earlier in the League One fixture.

The Addicks boss was sent off in the second half after reacting to the award of Tractor Boys free-kick. Not only did Garner feel George Dobson fairly won the ball but he also claimed that goalscorer Tyreece John-Jules was offside.

A groin injury had ruled the 29-year-old striker out of the first couple of months of the campaign.

Dobson’s header looped over Christian Walton to cap off a remarkable League One match.

US-based Dane Sandgaard told Charlton Athletic Supporters’ Trust that he would be meeting with Garner imminently to talk about “getting the bigger framework right”.

Garner was sent off in the second half for his reaction after the visitors were awarded a free-kick after a tackle made by George Dobson. Town went on to score through Tyreece John-Jules, even though the initial set-piece did not come off.

Referee Josh Smith halted play to speak to both managers with the noise twice occurring in the first half.

The summer signing from Rochdale has been a first-team regular since arriving in SE7.
