“Absolutely brilliant” – Gary Rowett on Millwall’s away form + the challenge of an empty Den
Gary Rowett has labelled Millwal’s away form “absolutely brilliant” after today’s 1-0 success at Hull City.
It was the Lions’ seventh victory on their travels this season – with nine draws and just six defeats.
Millwall have also not conceded in their last four Championship matches on the road.
“Psychologically going away from home, without the pressure of playing at home without the fans is key,” said Rowett. “Without the fans it just feels really strange – it feels a huge disadvantage.
“We seem to put in much better and more relaxed performances away from home.

“When we came in the team had hardly won away from home at all. Our away record has been absolutely brilliant.
We’ve won a lot of games away from home and been so, so difficult to score against in a 5-2-3 but we’ve also created – you saw that first half. We played good football and created good chances. It’s certainly not a defensive formation if you move the ball well.
“The challenge we’ve got is at home. We’ve got to try and win a game at home. Without our fans it’s been difficult but what we’ve got to do is put in a really good performance on Tuesday and back it up.”
