AFC Wimbledon midfielder ruled out for rest of season – with centre-back facing six-week rehab as well

Callum Reilly will miss the rest of AFC Wimbledon’s season after fracturing his ankle in the recent home draw against Wigan.

Defender Darnell Johnson is facing six weeks out after damaging ankle ligaments in the same match.

Dons physio Tim Maynard told the club’s website: “Callum Reilly sustained an ankle fracture and he played on with it for a bit, which was impressive to say the least, but he will now be out for the remainder of the season, and we will look to get him stronger when the boot comes off after six weeks.

“DJ picked up an ankle injury in the same Wigan match, it was a similar ligament injury to what Paul Kalambayi and Luke O’Neill suffered, but he doesn’t require surgery. He will be conservatively managed and it looks like it will be around the six-week mark for him.”

Kalambayi (ankle) and Dan Csoka (foot) have been cleared to step up their training.

Maynard said: “Paul should return to modified training on Thursday.

“He has worked tirelessly to get back, and very diligently on his rehab, which was great to see. Paul damaged a ligament in his ankle, so he needed to have that reconstructed with surgery. It has only been seven weeks since he had surgery, so it is a really good turnaround in terms of rehabilitation from injury.”
