Alex Neil gives assessment on ex-Sunderland attacker’s Millwall debut in Hull defeat

Alex Neil has given his assessment on Aaron Connolly’s Millwall debut after his late substitute cameo in their 1-0 defeat at home to Hull on Saturday afternoon.

The 24-year-old joined on Thursday after having his Sunderland contract cancelled – joining the South Londoners on a free transfer.

Connolly came on for his Lions debut in the 63rd minute to replace Liverpool loanee Calum Scanlon.

“He was busy,” said Neil.

“I didn’t think it was an easy game for him to come into, if I’m honest. There wasn’t a lot of football played in the match at that stage – the ball was going back to front a lot. He was feeding off scraps.

“But when he did land on it he is a good technical player. He can come inside on his right foot and open the goal up.”
