Bart Bialkowski: Jed Wallace’s free-kick was unbelievable – but he doesn’t put many like that past me in Millwall training

Bart Bialkowski described Jed Wallace’s free-kick goal against Cardiff City as “unbelievable” – but reckons Millwall’s star attacker doesn’t do that to him very often in training.

The Lions drew 1-1 on Boxing Day with the Poland goalkeeper, on loan from Ipswich Town, making a fine save to deny Lee Tomlin.

Asked about Wallace’s long-range strike in Wales, Bialkowski said: “Yeah, unbelievable. It was a strike their keeper couldn’t do anything about.

“Not really [when asked if Wallace scores past him like that in training]. I like to think I save more than he scores.

“Our mindset was to come and get three points but we need to respect the point. We’ve managed to get a fantastic equaliser from Jed, we take a point and we move on.”

Bialkowski played down his stop from Tomlin.

“It was a good save – that’s my job. I’m there to help my team-mates sometimes. When you’re in good form these kind of saves come naturally.

“All the hard work I’m putting into training sessions is paying off on a match day.

“It’s a team sport and everyone deserves praise from that game.”

Bialkowski is refusing to talk about what Millwall should be looking to achieve this season.

The Lions are 12th in the table, five points behind the play-offs.

“I don’t want to set any targets for the team,” said Bialkowski. “I’ve got my own personal targets – but not for the team.

“We beat Leeds, we got a draw against West Brom, we beat Bristol City, drew against Forest and beat Bristol City. If we do our jobs properly for most of the game then we can beat anyone.”
