BMX returns for first time since lockdown
BY MIKE WOOF
BMX clubs from Peckham, Mitcham and Hackney competed for the first time since lockdown at Merton Saints’ track on Saturday.
Entrant numbers were limited to maximise safety for all participants, while those racing were only allowed to come with one adult.

The racing was split into two halves, with the 43 younger riders first, followed by a break that allowed them to leave before the 34 older riders turned up to compete.
The races were mixed with 10 age classes from seven-and-under up to 17-plus – restricted to experts only.

In the seven-and-under category, Lucas Tewolde won the A final, while Ignacy Loris won the eight-year-old.
Other winners were Chrystiano Goodman (nine-year-old), Kai Bowen (10-year-old), Imogen Cockerell (11-year-old), Xander Malvowane (12-year-old), Lukah McKenzie (13-year-old), Alex Taylor (14-year-old), Callum Bristow (15-16-years-old) and Tai Suleyman (17-plus).
