Bromley lack creativity in Dagenham loss – with boss puzzled by nervous display

Neil Smith admitted his Bromley side were below par as they lost 1-0 at Dagenham & Redbridge on Tuesday night.

Liam Gordon’s 25th-minute goal settled the National League fixture.

The Ravens, who are 11th in the standings, also saw Harry Forster come off with a hamstring injury.
Smith said: “We didn’t create enough. We lacked a little bit of invention. It was very, very basic – and we’re better than that.

“We looked like a side that were just trying to hit them with a set-play.

“We gifted the ball early on for their chance. The winger has been coming inside on to his stronger left foot all of the first half and the one time we don’t stop it, they get a bit of fortune [for the goal].

“I don’t mind losing if we’re doing the right thing but first half we looked a little panicky and nervous, I don’t know why, because we’re not playing in front of supporters.

“The players are good enough, I know they are.

“There were some plusses but as a collective we weren’t good enough.”

Bromley are at home to Maidenhead on Saturday.
