Cardiff City manager Neil Harris gives verdict on 1-1 draw on his return to Millwall

Neil Harris felt his Cardiff City side should have left SE16 with all three points – and was left disappointed by the goal Millwall scored.

The Lions went ahead through Matt Smith’s header from Shaun Williams cross – neither Curtis Nelson or Alex Smithies dealing with the ball in.

But Kieffer Moore drove through the middle to level in the 79th minute.

Forner Millwall manager Harris said: “Where do I start? Let’s get the disappointment out of the way with the goal we conceded. We were disappointed to be behind in a game that had nothing in it first half.

“Curtis and Alex have held their hands up – lack of communication. We have just got to make sure we cut out those errors.

“We threw to the caution to the wind. We passed the ball really well at times – got between the lines.

“Millwall sat back a little bit and you have to break that bank down. We did really well to get in some dangerous areas.

“Then second half we didn’t get going for 15 minutes until we made the sub and changed to a 4-2-3-1. Then we looked really threatening and I thought did enough to win the game.

“Millwall had a couple of good chances on the counter, but Bialkowski’s made a couple of really good saves to deny us.

“A quality finish by the chief. A great ball by Josh [Murphy]. They are the moments Josh Murphy has got to give us. Whether he is playing in a wide area or a second striker. The finish was outstanding.”
