Catford Wanderers tennis: Ladies second team suffer heavy reverse to league leaders

Catford Ladies’ second team lost 4-0 at home to league leaders Willett Recreation. The visitors’ first pair Justine Chapman and Maddie Payne had too much firepower for Kate Williams and Julia Taylor, winning 6-1 6-2.

They added further misery with an equally impressive 6-2 6-0 straight sets victory over Terri Borg and Toni Chapman.

Both home pairs fared a little better against Willett’s second pair of Lisa Connolly and Helen Milliner but still finished second best.

Wanderers’ first team of Lilla Brown, Kathy Aldridge, Stephanie James and Julia Garling were 4-0 victors at Chiselhurst.

Catford second veterans team of Denis Costelloe, John Townsend, John Norris and Adam Savage drew 2-2 with Martin Dene.

The struggling third veterans side – Cosmos Charles, Tony Saeed, Kalam Azad and Greg Gustard lost 4-0 against Bexleyheath.
