Charlton Athletic confirm Craig MacGillivray arrival – two-year deal for former Portsmouth stopper
Craig MacGillivray has signed a two-year contract with Charlton Athletic.
The goalkeeper, 28, is a free agent after leaving Portsmouth at the end of the 2020-21 League One season.
MacGillivray, who has been called up for international squads with Scotland, was Pompey’s Player of the Year in the previous campaign.
He has made 112 league appearances for them since arriving from Shrewsbury in June 2018.
MacGillivray told Charlton’s official website: “I’m over the moon. As soon as I heard Charlton were interested, there were other opportunities that arose but I knew wanted to come to this football club. You just have to look at the size of it, its history, that ticked all the boxes for me.
“I experienced it [The Valley] when I was playing for Portsmouth a few years ago, it was rocking. That’s what we all want as footballers, you want a full ground with fans backing you. I can’t wait for it.”
MacGillivray is the second signing made by Charlton this summer.
Manager Nigel Adkins said: “I am delighted that Craig has come to join us. He’s got a big personality and I am looking forward to working with him during the season ahead.”
