Charlton Athletic players show their respect for Jake Forster-Caskey as they wear his squad number on their T-shirts
Charlton Athletic’s players have paid tribute to Jake Forster-Caskey by wearing T-shirts with his squad number on ahead of today’s home game against Hull City.
The midfielder’s season is over after he suffered ACL damage to his left knee in Tuesday’s 3-1 win over Lincoln City.
Addicks manager Nigel Adkins made it clear that they would be supporting Forster-Caskey through his rehab. The former Brighton and MK man is out of contract at the end of June.
Forster-Caskey is at The Valley today and posed for a pre-match picture with the rest of the players before they started their warm-up ahead of the home match against Hull City, which is their final assignment of the regulation campaign.
“He’s got a knee injury and is on the road to recovery,” said Adkins in his pre-match press conference on Saturday. “People get injured in football, it’s unfortunate for Jake but he is going to get fantastic support from the football club. We have got exceptional football staff.
“Just before I came in here [to do press] I had a cup of tea with him and a chat. He knows what he has got to go and do. He’s valued by us at the football club. He has got to go through the process and he is prepared to do that. We’ll be there to support him along the way.
