Charlton Women see off Sheffield Utd Women with 2-0 win at Oakwood

Amber Stobbs and Charley Clifford helped Charlton seal their third win of the season in the Women’s Championship as they downed 10-player Sheffield United at Oakwood.

Goals either side of the break from Stobbs and Clifford sealed the points for Riteesh Mishra’s side.

The Blades saw Sam Tierney sent off in the second half for two bookable offences. The Addicks are third in the standings.

Charlton striker Kit Graham was twice denied by Alex Brooks before Stobbs put Charlton ahead.
A cross from the left by Graham saw Stobbs scuff her first effort before rolling the ball just over the line before Brooks could clear.

Clifford curled a brilliant effort into the far corner to kill off any hopes of a comeback.

Jodie Michalska saw a header saved by Katie Startup before the Charlton goalkeeper did brilliantly to deny Chloe Dixon and then Michalska again on the rebound.

Charlton Athletic Women go to Millwall Lionesses on Sunday – a 2pm kick off at Dartford FC.

Stobbs said: “I love a bit of rivalry and we’ll be buzzing. We’ll do our usual thing, we’ll stick to our schedule and make sure we’re 100 per cent for that game.”

Bailes battles for the ball
Former Millwall Lionesses striker Rianna Dean claimed a hat-trick as Tottenham Hotspur Ladies went top of the table with a comprehensive 8-0 win over her former club.

Chris Phillips’ side have conceded 16 goals in their opening five matches and are bottom of the table.

Crystal Palace Ladies are at home to Sheffield United Women on Sunday (2pm at Bromley FC).
