Croydon light-heavyweight Joshua Buatsi faces Caparello in eliminator for WBA world title shot
Joshua Buatsi will face Blake Caparello in an eliminator for a world title shot on November 2 in Manchester.
The undefeated Croydon light-heavyweight is being built by promoter Matchroom Boxing to be one of the UK’s next big stars.
Australian Caparello holds a 30-3-1 record but all his losses have come to leading lights in the division – Sergey Kovalev, Andre Dirrell and Isaac Chilemba.
Buatsi (12-0) has relinquished the British title as he steps away from the domestic scene. His clash with Caparello will be an eliminator for a shot at the WBA belt.
“It will be a good test,” said the South Londoner. “He brings a lot of experience to the table.
“I’m going in there knowing I’m a different fighter to the ones he has fought. It is different styles and different threats. I’m different to a lot of fighters.
“I’m not reading too much into who he has fought and lost to.
“Looking on paper he should be [his toughest opponent]. It’s my job to make it as easy as possible. Whether it will be easy, I highly doubt it.
“I solely concentrate on my next fight. The most important thing is November 2. There’s time to sharpen up a lot more. There is a long list, I can’t tell you – we’d be here all day.
“I’ll be there to win, at all costs.”
