Croydon Women begin season with win at Woking

Croydon Women commenced their new Premier League season away at the Cardinals of Woking.

With players away on holiday or otherwise engaged there was a lack of options for the trams with no substitutes.

With Deanne Badley working tirelessly, the Trams broke down the Woking attack.

First blood was drawn by Croydon.

Kamilla Ovrevik returned to don the pink kit and her powerful shot was well saved by the Ambers goalie, rebounding nicely for the alert Carina De Souza to open the Trams account.

Woking equalised before half-time with an unstoppable 20-yard effort to keep the match even.

In the second half a swirling cross from the right caught Angelina off guard and her lunge to save was not enough.

De Souza then made her way down the left and struck her shot into the left-hand corner to even the tie.

With minutes remaining fellow South American, Jarmily De Arcanjo de Arcanj, found space on the right, ran at the Cardinals left-back then unleashed a thunderbolt from 25 yards out into the top left-hand corner. It proved a worthy winner in a tight game.
