Crystal Palace boss Hodgson: Arsenal’s Reiss Nelson would be a “good signing”

BY ANDREW MCSTEEN

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson says he is unaware about being linked to Arsenal youngster Reiss Nelson with the Premier League transfer window deadline looming.

“I don’t know anything about it, but that’s the problem, these linkages,” said Hodgson today. “[Sporting director] Doug Freedman gets a lot of calls [about players], a lot of people asking him questions and when the time is right – if it is something that he thinks is going to be interesting to me and the coaching staff – he brings it to us.”

Nelson has not been involved with the Arsenal squad for their first three games of this season and it has reported his representatives are working on getting him out of the north London club on loan deal, with Palace and rivals Brighton interested.

“I must honestly say that at the moment we haven’t had any conversation about Reiss Neilson,” said Hodgson about the 20-year-old winger, who was born in Elephant & Castle.

“But that doesn’t mean that I don’t think he’s a good player and could be a good signing for any club which takes him.”
