Crystal Palace boss Hodgson staying humble as point banked at Swansea City

Roy Hodgson refused to get frustrated at Crystal Palace’s 1-1 draw at Swansea City – with their current eight-game unbeaten top-flight run their best since October 1990.

Luka Milivojevic’s 59th-minute penalty kick put the Eagles ahead at the Liberty Stadium only for Jordan Ayew to cancel that advantage out.

Palace are two points clear of the Premier League dropzone.

Eagles boss Hodgson said: “I think I need to be modest and satisfied with a point and not speak too much about the two that might have got away.

“When we took the lead you hope a chance will come up for a second, you know they have to come forward a bit more. But unfortunately they scored a very good goal and, as a result, made the last 10 or so minutes a little bit stressful.

“We’ve got to be modest and accept we’re building our castle brick by brick. We’re trying to get out of that relegation zone, which we’ve just managed to do in recent weeks, and kept out unbeaten run going. We played a dangerous Swansea side who needed the points every bit as much as we did.”
