Crystal Palace striker disappointed by World Cup exclusion
BY RICHARD CAWLEY
Christian Benteke had expressed his disappointment after missing out on Belgium’s World Cup squad – but tweeted his support for his country in Russia.
The Crystal Palace striker had a woeful goal return last season in the Premier League.
And Benteke did not make Roberto Martinez’s 23-man squad.
Palace are ready to listen to offers for the 27-year-old frontman but his huge wages are likely to make moving him on difficult.
Benteke tweeted: “Dissapointed [sic] to have been left out of the squad going to the #WorldCup. I’ll keep working hard and come back stronger. Now let’s all get behind the @BelRedDevils and show them our support!”
