Dillian Whyte’s promoter reveals why Tyson Fury talks can’t kick off in earnest

Dillian Whyte’s promoter reckons it is impossible to make an offer to stage his shot at WBC world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury until the governing body reveal the purse split.

Brixton’s Whyte was recently named as Fury’s mandatory challenger and the two parties have 30 days to agree a deal before it goes to a bidding stage.

Cardiff and Manchester have been mooted as potential venues with the bout set to take place in February or March.

Whyte pulled out of facing Otto Wallin at Greenwich’s 02 Arena in October, citing a shoulder injury.

Matchroom Boxing supremo Eddie Hearn, who has promoted all of Whyte’s fights since 2015, told iFL TV: “There’s still the situation of the split to resolve.

“I said to Mauricio [Sulaiman, WBC boss] that it’s very difficult to negotiate a fight when you don’t know what the purse split is.

“I don’t see a deal being agreed until we know that. That needs to be determined before we can consider deals. We’re more than happy to do a deal if it is the right terms for Dillian Whyte.

“We’ll see how that develops in the arbitration and discussions with the WBC.

“We’d love to promote that fight.”
