Dons boss Wally Downes: Display against Burton Albion was not acceptable

AFC Wimbledon manager Wally Downes was unstinting in his criticism of his players after a pallid display against Burton Albion.

“It was a team performance that was poor,” said Downes after the 2-0 defeat. “We didn’t defend, we didn’t create and we didn’t take our chances – the couple of chances that we had.

“It’s difficult to find positives from a performance like that. We didn’t win any personal battles around the field from the first 10 minutes [onwards]. For some reason we weren’t strong in the tackle, we got outmuscled by Burton, and that’s a recipe for disaster at home.

“That, today, was not acceptable.”
