Dons defender set to miss friendly matches after chipping bone in his arm

Will Nightingale will not feature in AFC Wimbledon’s upcoming pre-season matches after chipping a bone in his arm.

The centre-back, 25, has made 110 League One appearances for the Dons.

“He can’t do contact training at the moment and he’ll be out for a few of the friendlies,” Wimbledon head coach Mark Robinson told the South London Press.

“The good thing is he can still do everything else. It is really a precaution thing. We have to let it heal. He can still run and do lots of the ball work.

“It’s not ideal, but it also isn’t like he can’t do anything. He is a real fit lad anyway. He is not going to lose his competitive edge, that isn’t going to happen.

“It is a tiny thing but if he has a collision it is going to make it worse. We’ve got to make sure the bone is healed before he comes back to full contact.”
