Dulwich Runners round-up: Ed Chuck takes first place in Assembly League fixture
Dulwich hosted a successful second race of the Assembly League season in Crystal Palace Park where both men and women run in the same race, writes Jonathan Whittaker.
Ed Chuck was pushed strongly by Kent AC’s Jake Simmonds on the hilly five-kilometre course but had enough power to take first place in 15:39.

Jack Brotchie (16:33, sixth), Rob Armstrong (16:34, seventh) and Joe Hallsworth (16:41, ninth) all had strong runs to place Dulwich second place behind Kent AC on the night.
Final team results in the ladies competition were yet to be confirmed at the time of writing but Dulwich’s Katie Smith (21:08), Clare Norris (21:19), Michelle Lennon (21:26) and Katie Styles (21:58) were all team scorers.

Twenty-six club members enjoyed the recently relaid track and sunny weather at Tooting Bec on Saturday in the Tracksmith Amateur Mile – the championships concludes at the Golden Stag Mile in July.

Heat four saw Helen Shannon (5:53.91) record the fastest Dulwich women’s time of the day with Laura Vincent (6:01.73) and Clare Norris (6:07.67). Fred Bungay and Andy Bond both smashed their PBs in heat 14. For Bond it meant an improvement to his club V40 record but it was only to last 10 minutes with Nick Impey translating his imperious marathon form to the track in the next race with a new mark of 4:36.51.
In the final race of the day Ed Chuck finished fourth and gained a new senior club record time of 4:17.28.
