Dulwich Runners secured the Women’s 55+ age crown at the 33rd British Masters Road Relay Championships on Saturday
Birmingham’s Sutton Park was the venue with an undulating one lap course and cool, breezy conditions.
Michelle Lennon stormed the first leg with the second fastest leg of the race in 21:31 to open up a one second lead over South London Harriers.

Dulwich’s local rivals then took the lead, but Ange Norris (22:07) kept the deficit to 19 seconds to keep Dulwich in serious contention.
Ola Balme (22:16) ran an impressive anchor leg to pass her local rival and break the finish tape with South London Harriers 34 seconds behind.

In other races, the Women’s 35+ team of Kay Sheedy (19:14) led after the first leg but despite brilliant runs from Katie Smith (21:44), Sue Cooper (23:02) and Becca Davis (23:33) Dulwich had to be content with 8th place.
A keenly fought men’s 55+ race saw Dulwich field two teams with the trio of Tony Tuohy (19:36), Ebe Prill (20:50) and Steve Smythe (24:35) finishing in 25th to secure the bragging rights over the 33rd place finishers Gary Budinger (25:15), Ian Sesnan (25:44) and Dave West (25:02) for the trip home.
