Ellie Scotney: Having Geordies at my next fight will probably scare me!
Ellie Scotney is looking forward to her first professional fight in front of a crowd on Saturday night.
The Catford featherweight, 23, faces Spain’s Vanesa Caballero in Newcastle.
Scotney is 2-0 in the paid ranks but both bouts took place without punters due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“I think it will play a massive part in my performance,” she said. “It will probably scare me a little bit, especially the Geordies! I can’t wait to get going again.
“I was meant to box her [Caballero] before in March but it didn’t happen because of covid. I’ve watched her a few times. She is going to be coming to give it a good go, coming to win.”
Madrid-based Caballero, 40, has a 4-9-3 record.
Scotney earned a 59-55 points win over Mailys Gangloff in March in her most recent ring outing.
“She was tough and has gone on to become a French champion,” said the South Londoner, who supports Crystal Palace.
“She stopped her opponent. She is relentless and I learned a lot from those six rounds.
“If this all goes well I should be out in the [Matchroom] Fight Camp as well.”
