Exclusive: Millwall midfielder Ra’ees Bangura-Williams signs new long-term contract
Ra’ees Bangura-Williams has signed a new long-term contract at Millwall.
The South London Press understands the 20-year-old midfielder from Lambeth has agreed new terms that run until 2030.
Bangura-Williams joined the Lions from Tooting & Mitcham in December 2023 and penned improved terms shortly before making his first-team debut.
The youngster marked his senior bow with a superb strike in the 3-0 FA Cup win over Dagenham & Redbridge.
Bangura-Williams earned an England U20 call-up in March and came off the bench in a 2-2 draw against Switzerland.
He made 13 appearances in all competitions but did not feature after the middle of March due to an ankle injury.
Neil told our paper in March that Bangura-Williams’ pathway to Millwall had its advantages after not coming through an academy set-up.
“The main benefit of coming through that way is that he was exposed to men’s football however limited that was – because I don’t think he played a huge amount of games there either,” said Neil.
“Sometimes the academy is a little bit more protective, shall we say, with young players coming through. Whereas when you go into a man’s environment it is what it is – you either sink or you swim.
“From that perspective a lot of the kids that came through that way have an edge that a lot of academy kids maybe lack.”
